Cinder v1.0.62

A transcription quality update that makes local transcription faster and more accurate, restores on-device Apple transcription on macOS 26.3, and shows permission status honestly.

Fixes

Sharper local transcription

Local transcription now runs on the Mac's GPU with a higher-quality model, keeping the same responsiveness while making noticeably fewer errors on names, jargon, and fast speech.

Apple transcription returns on macOS 26.3

On the macOS build where the newest Apple engine is disabled for stability, calls now use the earlier on-device Apple engine instead of dropping straight to the local fallback.

Honest permission status

Settings and onboarding now show Speech Recognition status accurately, including a clear notice when Apple transcription is temporarily unavailable on this macOS version.

Known issues

No known issues have been published for this release.

This release upgrades the local transcription floor — GPU-accelerated whisper with a higher-quality default model and a remote rollback path — and adds an explicit engine ladder so every call starts on the best engine available to your plan and your Mac. Cinder's privacy boundary is unchanged: raw audio never reaches the renderer and no transcript content is added to diagnostics.

In Cinder, open Settings → Account and find Version to check for an update. An available update waits until an active call ends before Cinder asks to restart.
