Paid plan call data stays on your machine and is never used for training. Free plan transcripts (never audio) may be used for product improvement — see Free Tier Data Use below. In both cases, audio never leaves your device.
Audio recordings, coaching history, and locally-transcribed text are stored on your device in an encrypted SQLite database. Authentication tokens are secured via macOS Keychain. If you uninstall Cinder, this local data is deleted with it. Paid users who disable cloud sync keep all call data local.
The Free plan transcribes audio locally on your Mac using Whisper — no audio leaves your device. Starter and Pro plan users stream audio to Deepgram for cloud transcription; audio is processed in memory and is not stored by Deepgram or by us. The resulting transcript is stored locally on your device.
When AI coaching or post-call analysis runs, conversation context is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for analysis. Anthropic does not retain your data after processing. Responses are delivered to your device and stored locally.
Account information (email, name, billing details) and subscription status are stored in our cloud infrastructure. Call metadata — including contacts, scores, action items, summaries, and call records — syncs to our cloud for cross-device continuity and post-call processing. Paid users can disable cloud sync in Preferences to keep this data local only. Raw audio is never uploaded. We use Supabase for authentication and data storage, and Stripe for payment processing.
On the Free plan, transcript text (never audio) may be used by Cinder for product improvement — including model training, prompt optimization, and aggregate benchmarks. This is disclosed during signup. Paid plans are never used for training. When you upgrade from Free to a paid plan, all previously collected transcripts are deleted from our training pool.
Cinder uses the following third-party services: Deepgram (cloud transcription, Starter and Pro), Anthropic (AI coaching and analysis), Supabase (authentication), Stripe (payments), Nango (integration OAuth), and Vercel (website hosting, error monitoring, and privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics). Each operates under their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.
You can delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from within the app. Local data can be cleared by uninstalling Cinder or using the "Clear local data" option in settings. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any form.
