Terms of Service
Last updated: July 24, 2026
By downloading or using Cinder, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
The service
Cinder is a macOS desktop application that provides call transcription, AI-powered coaching, and post-call analysis. Free transcription runs on your Mac. Starter and Pro use a cloud transcription provider with a local fallback. Features that use cloud transcription, AI coaching, analysis, account sync, or connected services require an internet connection.
License to use Cinder
Subject to these terms, Cinder gives you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the desktop app for your own personal or internal business purposes. You may not sell, sublicense, rent, or distribute the app, or reverse engineer it except where applicable law does not allow that restriction.
Your account
You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. One account per person. You must be at least 18 years old to use Cinder. You're responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Billing and payments
Cinder offers an ongoing Free plan and monthly Starter and Pro plans. Start with a 14-day Starter trial. No credit card required. After the trial, continue on Free unless you choose a paid plan. Features and monthly allowances vary by plan; the current limits are shown on the Pricing page and in the app before purchase.
You can cancel a paid subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep paid-plan access until then. Payments are non-refundable except where applicable law requires a refund.
See the billing guide for the in-app steps to view your plan, change it, or schedule cancellation.
Acceptable use
You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Cinder complies with all applicable laws, including rules about recording, transcription, monitoring, notice, and consent. Cinder does not join a call as a participant bot. You remain responsible for providing any notice and obtaining any consent required by the laws that apply to your calls. You represent and warrant that you have the rights and permissions needed for Cinder to process the words and other data you submit through your account.
Data processing
On Free, transcription runs locally on your Mac. Raw audio is neither uploaded nor saved. Transcript text is stored in your Cinder account, remains accessible for 30 days, and may be used to improve Cinder’s AI under the disclosure you accept when using Free. On the Starter trial and paid Starter or Pro, live audio is streamed to a cloud transcription provider and is not saved as audio. During the default Starter trial, transcript text stays local-only. On a paid Starter or Pro subscription, transcript text is stored on your Mac and in your Cinder account by default. You can disable cloud transcript storage; transcript text is then removed from Cinder’s servers while account metadata and generated outputs such as summaries may remain. When you request coaching or analysis, relevant conversation context is sent to Cinder’s configured AI providers. Paid-plan data is not used to train AI models. Cinder can automatically learn account-specific contact facts, account intelligence, sanitized writing-style examples from calls and edited follow-ups, and numerical call-behaviour patterns. High-confidence facts may be used immediately; uncertain or contradictory facts wait for review. You can inspect source evidence, verify, edit, dismiss, or delete facts, resolve conflicts, and review or delete writing-style examples with their source-call links. Each learning category can be disabled to stop new collection and prompt use without deleting existing items, or reset to delete its automatic learning. In the separate AI-memory setting, 1 year is the default. Accounts without a stored retention confirmation are not pruned until the setting is confirmed. You can choose 90 days, 180 days, 1 year or 2 years. Selecting 5 years or Forever is available on Starter and Pro. Verified facts, manual notes, documents, scripts, calls, and summaries are not pruned by the AI-memory setting; their own retention and deletion controls still apply. Deleting a call removes its indexed context and call-derived learning while keeping manual notes and pins. The Privacy Policy explains retention, sharing, account controls, and Free-plan improvement use in more detail.
